Ann Coulter "we didn't kill enough Indians"
Her comment- made on July 4th, was made in response to an Indigenous Professor speaking on decolonization.
Necessary context:
The post came in response to a clip from the Socialism 2025 conference, where Dinรฉ professor and activist Melanie Yazzie discussed Native sovereignty. Coulterโs one-line reply, delivered to her 2.3 million followers, quickly went viral.
The Indigenous community has indeed gotten loud in the days since Ann made her post and National Indigenous groups have come out to make statements on the incident:
You can find my final thoughts on this over on youtube, basically: I want to see Indigenous folks be the ones to lead the discourse on this topic, I am grateful to see that many are on this same page. But, I have noticed that most of the mega viral posts about this have been by non-indigenous people. Be it the algorithm or peoples choices- Indigenous voices are not being given priority to speak on their issues.
While calls for accountability are going viral- do not forget to seek out and amplify the voices directly affected by this rhetoric.
