DOI forms partnerships to preserve US Indian Boarding school history.
The department of interior has announced “agreements with the U.S. Library of Congress and the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History as part of the Department’s Federal Indian Boarding School Initiative.”
These moves are historic and will be a measure of protection for the work that has already taken place as we go into the next administration. We are still calling on Congress to pass the Truth and Healing Commission legislation, so please contact your reps in support if you haven’t already.
Over the weekend, I was doing more reading and personal research into my family’s connection with boarding schools and may have found more than I expected.

Navigating the digital archives is always painful. But reading these names made the world fall out from under my feet. It felt like being hit by an entire fleet of trucks. I have been taking things slow and I am so grateful to have you as a community to support me as I reconnect.
I did come across this video that was made recently of my dad that absolutely made me feel better after all that reading.
I have been chatting with my dad here and there, I hope to plan another trip to see him again soon. Thank you to everyone who supports the travel and the content.
