A quick update on me:
It was a marathon for me for the entire month of December. Launching multiple projects and starting new partnerships. I made the heavy decision to close the handmade mask shop on the first of the year, due to my increasing commitment to making content- I simply cannot keep up with both mask orders and create content at the pace I want and need to. I am also admittedly personally done with making masks, I began making them in March 2020, and for not quite three years, have been making them relatively non-stop. So, I am saying goodbye to a large part of why I began making content, to begin with, it comes with a spectrum of emotions. Thank you to everyone who helped build up this business! I have added some masks made by my supplier with my merch designs, something folks have been asking for these for a bit, I’ll be adding more over the next few weeks!
Thank you to everyone who has found me on youtube and helped get the channel monetized by Christmas! That was such a wonderful gift and I am so grateful to all of you! I am lining up my content schedule and will have new videos up through the week.
Drama in the House:
I’m sure many of you are following the multiple rounds of voting taking place in DC to elect a House Speaker, current count as of me writing this, is Kevin McCarthy has failed to win 218 votes 10 times. This is the first time since before the Civil War that electing a House Speaker has failed so many times. While I am amused by the mess, I am wary of what is to come from this round of Congress. No other congressional business can be conducted until a House Speaker is elected. Based on the chaos we are seeing from the GOP I almost wonder if that’s the entire goal. I guess all we can do is wait for updates.
The Race to Climate Action
We saw a series of Climate Action tactics emerge in the last months of 2022, how effective some of them were, was of hot debate among many in various communities. For some the message was lost amid media theatrics while others were galvanized to add their voice to the growing call to divest and transition away from fossil fuels. At the end of the day- not everyone can have the same super powers and we need a range of approaches to tackle the looming task that is the fossil fuel industry. Let’s remember in our discussions, aim to bully oil executives, not each other.
Waiting for ICWA
We can expect a ruling on the Indian Child Welfare Act sometime in the spring or even as late as July. For those of you who are just joining us please check out the resources at the bottom of my linktree to learn about ICWA, who’s behind the challenge, and why it is so important to uphold. There are actions to take and groups & resources to support. I am following SCOTUS Blog for updates on the case. We still have time to educate as many people as possible.
Keep an eye out!
I have a few campaigns making the rounds with a few partners, my face will be popping up all kinds of places for some of you. And remember to find me on youtube if you haven’t yet already!
