Protocols
Native folks are being detained and harassed by ICE.
This week I shared my list of protocols that I have adopted in the last year every time I leave the house.
The posts have created a space for folks in the Native community to lean on each other about the weight of just trying to survive. I am privileged to have extensive documentation proving my Tribal identity, many may not have recourses or access to acquire a current Tribal ID, or may have experienced disenrollment, either way there is a lot of anxiety.
Multiple Tribes and orgs have made statements calling out the blatant racial profiling. And the Native American Rights fund has made a series of resources for Native folks:
The news cycle is collapsing in on itself Trumps appearances and demands are escalating in absurdity. For now, I am taking things day by day and doing my best to remain focused on the work. Which I am still able to do after all this time thanks to the community we have built across multiple platforms. I am grateful for the support and I that I am navigating this nightmare with all of you.

I'm curious if you could link your body cam or advise what the pros/cons of your style are? I've been looking into getting one since I'm in the midst of the ICE invasion in MN. I was thinking of getting a chest harness to use an old cell, but your necklace style looks even better! I'm unsure what search terms to use to find it though, so any direction you can provide would be appreciated. I'm also sorry we live in a world where these precautions are necessary, but I really appreciate you sharing your protocols. ❤️🩹
