Today the ICWA ruling was released by the Supreme Court 7-2, and all challenges to ICWA were rejected in a quite honestly unexpected outcome with the opinion written by Justice Barrett. I am still in shock. I was prepared for specific aspects of the act to be repealed, which would have effectively removed the teeth from the act making it less powerful. But this is the best result we could have hoped for.

Justice Thomas and Alito dissented, Thomas citing a law that is being called “astounding intellectual dishonesty,” which is on par with what we expect from him these days.
