The leaked decision from Friday turned out to be correct. While it’s valid to be disappointed we can’t spend too long in despair. As I cover here what we need to focus on is supporting the group Earth Justice which has planned litigation to challenge the project.

We can’t lose the community we have built. Oil propaganda will seek to isolate people and cause hopelessness. Working together and moving with a unified message is what made this so impactful. And we will take what we learned from this and make it better going forward. This work is undoing millions of dollars worth of oil and gas lobbying. The odds were always stacked in the fossil fuel companies’ favor, but despite that: we made DC hesitate. Not just on the willow project, but for other oil and gas developments as well. A passive action that I encourage all people to do when things are quiet is to find the groups on the different social media platforms and amplify their posts. Subscribe to their emails and get notified about their calls to action as soon as they put them out. Full up their comment sections with positive engagement to help drive it on the algorithms and set the tone for other folks who interact with the content.

OK. I am having a “big feeling” as I teach my five-year-old to identify his temper tantrums. And that big emotion can be put to good use. Channel it to the next battle front. We haven’t lost until we give up. I’m not giving up.
Deeply appreciate your perseverance and leadership in this fight. Thank you for all that you do.
