2026
Here we go...
As the ball dropped, a feeling spread through the air.
A sparkle, a notion, a shimmer at the corner of everyone's eye.
The pendulum begins to swing a new direction.
A new light shines at the end of the tunnel. There will be another side to all this,
and one day, all at once, we will find ourselves there.
Mamdani was sworn in as mayor of NYC at midnight on New Years, and the warm fuzzies were felt all the way across the country. I am sure I am in good company when I say I was READY for 2025 to be over. Life was especially stressful on both individual and grand scales. In terms of climate: if it wasnβt flooded this year, it was on fire. I spent a lot of this year watching much of my work I helped accomplish get demolished on a federal level. I was laid off, found work again, took care of my dad for a time and privately dealt with the loss of my elder cat Mozzie as well as some family health issues. I also built a new stream of income out of near nothing and thanks to the support of the community learned more new skills and found a way to keep the content going despite major funding setbacks. Thank you to everyone who has continued to support all this time and thank you to everyone who has joined the party recently.
My role is changing in the work as it so frequently does, and I am getting ready to help be the hammer coming down in the court of public opinion.
Climate litigation is full steam ahead in many state and local cases, attempts to halt various climate legislation have been rejected. More and more, oil companies are being told no.
One thing is for certain for 2026: change, what it will look like is still up in the air, but there is a lot of parts moving in a lot of directions. Marjorie Taylor Greene quit, sheβs rebranding and distancing herself from Trump, something I think will happen more and more as time goes on. (Sheβs still awful) Watching the latest turning point conference was all the confirmation I needed, the talking heads are turning on each other.
On this note, I will leave you here and get back to my pile of beadwork, thank you again and I will see you next time, be it here or the other places.
